West Rome Baptist Church was founded by thirteen believers who had a heart to reach the West side of town. Though the phrasing, people, and programs have changed over the years, the heartbeat has not.
Whether people need an introduction to Jesus, someone to walk with them, or someone to teach, we desire to meet them where they are and help them take the next step toward Jesus. In obedience to Jesus’ commission to his disciples, we strive to reach the people across the street, and around the world.
God’s Word: “…they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching…” (Acts 2:42) We are devoted to the teaching and application of God’s Word. As a corporate body and as individuals. We believe scripture should be the center of all that we do, and we are passionate about equipping our people to “rightly handle the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:2)
Fellowship: “…and to the fellowship…” (Acts 2:42) We are the body and bride of Christ. As such, we are called to walk with, bear with, take care of, and love one another. We are, and strive to be, a church body that prioritizes togetherness. Together in corporate worship, together in groups, together in discipleship, and friendship. We serve, encourage, provide for, and push each other to be what God has called us to be!
Worship: “…to the breaking of bread…” (Acts 2:42) When we take communion, Paul says we “proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” We believe that communion itself is sacred, and we believe that a lifestyle of proclaiming Jesus in all that we do is worship. We are called to remember what the Lord Jesus has done for us on the cross, and every faithful moment since. When we remember and proclaim, our lives become one act of worship after another. It is our desire to be a church, and a people, who worship.
Prayer: “…and to prayer…” (Acts 2:42) We pray because prayer changes things. Even if it doesn’t change what we’re praying about, it changes us. We pray to bend our will to God’s as he bends His ear to hear. We pray because it is our great privilege to speak through a torn veil to an Almighty God and Perfect Father. We pray because how could we not? We are a church who prioritizes corporate and individual prayer.
Mission: “…go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19) In obedience to Jesus’s command, we are determined to go. Across the street and around the world. West Rome is committed to our community- through local partnerships, prayer and financial, and through the use of the building we have. Any given week, you can find many different groups using our campus for recovery meetings, prayer breakfasts, baby showers, homeless ministry, and so much more. We also maintain long term partnerships with mission partners overseas, in Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, South Africa, Lebanon, Costa Rica, and more. To the ends of the earth, however we can help.
